Bern
The small capital of Switzerland, Bern may often be overlooked in favor of bigger cities like Zurich or Geneva. But missing Bern means missing a fabulous historical Old Town with one of the best preserved medieval centers in Europe, complete with a historical clock tower, stunning cathedral, and quaint fountains.
A great stopover for excursion to the country, Bern also offers edgy, vintage boutiques, artsy bars, and a spirited nightlife.
Bazel
Basel is situated in the Northwestern part of the country, by the French and German border. The river Rhine forms beautiful panorama ot the city and servers as a connection for the ocean ships going to Rotterdam. Basel was founded by the Romans, happend to be the imperial city and from the beginning of 16th Cent. belongs to Switzerland. There was also established the oldest university in the country.
Geneve
Switzerland’s most cosmopolitan city, Geneva plays an international note in its sleek, efficient city. A major banking center, it also houses such international organizations as the Red Cross and the World Health Organization. Geneva offers many museums and fine galleries, and its location makes it a perfect starting point for cruises on the lake, or a trip to the Alps.
Lausanne
Built on three hills right next to Lake Geneva, this Swiss city has a picturesque setting enough to take anyone’s breath away. Home to the Olympic Committee and also the Olympic Museum, guests can also find a myriad of other museums, excellent dining, a beautiful cathedral, and a world-famous ballet amid the vineyard covered slopes of Lausanne.
Zürich
Famous for international banking, Switzerland’s largest city of Zurich is so much more than the money. Located by the beautiful Lake Zurich, the city has a compact center which is easily explored on foot. Gaze at the beautiful twin churches of Fraumünster and Grossmünster, or join a festive celebration on the riotous Niederdorfstrasse. The ultra-modern atmosphere of the town paves the way for a hip and trendy cultural scene year round.
Luzern
The city of Luzern is situated by the beautiful Luzern lake. The Reuss river divides the city centre in the Old and New Town. The most magnificent mark of Luzern is definitely the oldest wooden brigde in the world - Kapellburcke, with its water tower. The other bridge of interest could be also the Spreuerbrucke, the bridge of "Old-clothes Men". The city is located in a beautiful countryside among the mountain range and the mentioned lake which surely helped the tourism development.
